		<description>Stuart Burns has done a good job of getting to grips with the comparison on accident rates between the two biggest coal producers - China and the US. The accident prone period in China is likely to be shorter than it was for the US and the UK, for example, because there are a lot of us western advisers helping the Chinese industry and authorities to do what they are already doing better and better. The current rate of fatals per million tonnes is 0.92 and falling, or 19 times the rate of 0.47 per m tonnes, in the US.
