A former test pilot and aeronautical designer, Owen Maclaren saw a gap in the market for a lightweight stroller back. In 1967, he invented the original blue and white striped buggy with aluminum-alloy tubed frame in the village of Barby, Northamptonshire, England. Today, the Maclaren Buggy is sold in over 50 countries and is still based on Maclaren’s original design. A vintage style icon, the buggy is also part of the Museum of Modern Art’s (MoMA) Permanent Collection and featured in Phaidon Design Classics.
