This is gold Mr. Bond. All my life I’ve been in love with its colour, its brilliance, its divine heaviness. I welcome any enterprise that will increase my stockwhich is considerable.
That memorable line was spoken by Agent 007’s arch-villain who appeared in the third Bond film, Goldfinger, alongside Sean Connery. Played by Gert Fröbe, Auric (an adjective meaning of gold) Goldfinger’s obsession is the precious metal whose chemical symbol is Au. Besides being a smuggler and a jeweler, Goldfinger is also a metallurgist. His business Enterprises Auric A.G. in Switzerland, manufactures metal furniture, which is purchased by many airlines including Air India. Midas is both Goldfinger’s channeled mentor and twisted myth.
