On the eve of Turkey Day 2010, MetalMiner has been keeping an eye and ear out for what some folks are thankful for:

“This Thanksgiving, we’re thankful for the Pentagon’s deep pockets. With $3.5 billion worth of fighter jets just for you 31 F-35s, to be exact we’re happy to stay on top as the world’s largest defense company. We wouldn’t be pumping out this many planes if it wasn’t for you. Keep it coming, DOD! Sincerely, Lockheed-Martin

“First off, we’re thankful to be alive after having spent 69 long, dark days deep inside a copper-gold mine, and we’re also thankful for our persevering rescuers who brought us back into the light¦but right now, we’re really thankful for Hollywood! The Americans have been so lovely, driving us around in double-decker buses, pointing out Elvis Presley’s star on the Walk of Fame, and taking us shopping. We’re totally heroes now. This beats digging for precious metals any day of the week! Now, when are we going dancing? ~The 33 Chilean Miners and Families

“I’m thankful that the EU and the IMF took a cue from the US government and bailed me out! They’re still working out the details, but all I have to do is sit back and wait for the loan money to pop into my account. Ahhh, makes me feel like a college student all over again. Or General Motors. Ever Yours, Ireland

“I’m just thankful for Ireland taking the weight off our shoulders by taking the lead in bad financial news over the past couple weeks. You thought only you were sick of reading about QE2? Ben Bernanke

Very true! Makes a change to see someone spell it out like that. 🙂
