We want to give a definitive focus to all the policy issues currently littering the landscape. Much has been written and publicly debated about the US trade deficit and the subsequent loss of manufacturing jobs, currency policies, anti-dumping cases, violations of WTO trading rules and, most recently, the impact of Quantitative Easing on the dollar. Policies impacting currency exchange rates serve as an extremely timely topic that will have wide-sweeping effects on the entire manufacturing sector, from the largest corporations to the smallest “mom and pop shops. It’s also a subject that both high-ranking executives and procurement/sourcing managers must know more about, albeit from different policy and functional levels.
International Trade Policy Breaking Point distinguishes itself from the run-of-the-mill productions you’ve attended before by bringing together top industry professionals from the manufacturing, public policy, and purchasing worlds. This event will provide critical insight into how global trade is drastically changing. But more importantly, it will arm you and your company with practical strategies to anticipate and prepare yourself for the real total-cost and trade impacts.
We will break the event into three sessions, each featuring succinct presentations and a panel of experts in the respective subject matter:
8:35 – 9:45 am — Expert Panel: Public Policy Overview and Debate
Timothy Brightbill — Partner, International Trade Practice, Wiley Rein LLP
William Strauss — Senior Economist and Economic Advisor, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago
Jennifer Diggins — Corporate Public Affairs, Nucor
