To commemorate the intersection of Memorial Day and metals, we spotlight a few high (low?) points in commercial metals culture.
Give it up for this little Croatian superhero — a regular Magneto — whose body evidently attracts metal objects:
“Spoons, mobile phones and even frying pans”…indeed. Quite a metals sourcer, he is — or should we say sorcerer?
Light metal (aluminum) Airstreams for heavy metal rockers (and others): this guy from Western Michigan custom-makes Airstream trailers for the rich and famous.

If I was a celebrity such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Anthony Kiedis or Metallica’s James Hetfield and had the money to throw around, what better way to cruise around the country on Memorial Day weekend than a classic Airstream?
Finally, goggles for dogs? – Our colleague Sheena Moore of Spend Matters wrote a piece recently about military dogs and their indispensable nature as members of US military personnel. The most unique and hilarious part to the story — some of these dogs wear specialized, chrome-framed spectacles for protection. So, without further ado, we give you: Doggles.
As posted on Flickr by photographer Sgt. Jason Brace: “A military working dog wears Doggles to protect his eyes as a Chinook helicopter takes off, kicking up dust and debris, during an air assault operation by U.S. soldiers assigned to Alpha Troop, 1st Squadron, 172nd Cavalry Regiment, 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Parwan province, Afghanistan, May 11, 2010.”
If it’s sunny for the Memorial Day grillout today, even your dog may need them.
