HARBOR Aluminum hosts its 2011 Outlook Conference in Chicago at the Swissotel from June 20-22 — check the bottom of the post for all the details — and there’s no better time for aluminum buying organizations, metal traders, ETF investors and others to gain the benefit of Harbor’s market intelligence.
We spoke with HARBOR founder Jorge Vazquez about the key takeaways that attendees can expect:
MetalMiner: Why hold a conference for aluminum buyers/investors now? What is at stake in the market these days?
Jorge Vazquez: We see surprising and challenging sourcing and price volatility times for the aluminum market in the next 12 months. The conference is designed to best equip delegates with the latest market, price, sourcing and hedging intelligence to best cope with the sharp market movements we see ahead.
MM: What are the most exciting aspects of this year’s conference?
JV: I am really looking forward to HARBOR ´s Special Workshop on “Key Aluminum Industry Indicators and How to Read Them. [Also] Jesus Villegas [HARBOR ´s senior aluminum analyst] will speak on serious aluminum availability risks for the Americas during 2012. Xiong Hui, senior aluminum scrap and secondary aluminum analyst for Antaike, will speak on scrap dynamics and policy changes in China and its impact in the rest of the world, while our last session focuses on price value analysis and the latest metal sourcing and hedging recommendations.
MM: What are three things you think attendees will come away with?
JV: A clear view of the market and price outlook for 2012; a better understanding of the aluminum supply chain and what really drives it; and the latest on price value analysis, sourcing and hedging practices.
