Daily Aluminum Price Roundup – May 14, 2012

On May 11, 2012, the day’s biggest mover was the LME primary aluminum 3-month price, which saw a 0.9 percent increase to $2,045 per metric ton. Also on the LME, the cash price of primary aluminum rose 0.8 percent to $2,003 per metric ton. The cash price of Indian primary aluminum fell 0.6 percent.

Chinese aluminum prices were mixed for the day. Chinese primary aluminum cash prices weakened by 0.2 percent on the SHFE, settling at CNY 16,060 ($2,545) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum scrap saw little movement, keeping above $2,600 per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum billet remained essentially flat, holding above $2,550 per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum bar held steady below $2,250 per metric ton.
