Daily Copper Price Roundup – May 17, 2012

The cash price of Japanese primary copper weakened by 2.5 percent, settling at JPY 659,000 ($8,245) per metric ton.

Chinese copper closed mixed on Wednesday. Wednesday closed the cash price of Chinese primary copper at CNY 67,100 ($10,618) per metric ton on the SHFE, after moving up 15.2 percent. The price of Chinese copper bar declined two percent to CNY 56,900 ($9,004) per metric ton. The price of Chinese bright copper scrap increased 1.7 percent to CNY 48,900 ($7,738) per metric ton. At CNY 55,750 ($8,822) per metric ton, Chinese copper wire fell 0.9 percent on Wednesday.

The price of primary cash copper saw a 1.6 percent decline on the LME to $7,854 per metric ton. Also on the LME, the primary copper 3-month price fell 0.3 percent to $7,828 per metric ton.
