On June 1, 2012, the cash price of primary Indian aluminum fell by 2.7 percent, landing at INR 108.30 ($1.93) per kilogram and making it the day’s biggest mover.
On the LME, the 3-month price of aluminum increased 0.8 percent to $2,013 per metric ton. After a 0.8 percent increase, the primary aluminum cash price finished the day on the LME at $1,973 per metric ton.
Chinese aluminum prices were mixed for the day. The cash price of Chinese aluminum declined 0.2 percent to CNY 15,960 ($2,506) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum scrap remained essentially flat at CNY 16,650 ($2,614) per metric ton. For the fifth day in a row, the price of Chinese aluminum billet remained essentially flat at CNY 16,000 ($2,512) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum bar continues hovering around CNY 14,050 ($2,206) per metric ton for the fifth day in a row.
