At $360 per metric ton, the cash price of LME steel billet moved up 1.4 percent on June 25, 2012, making it the day’s biggest mover on our daily steel price index. The 3-month price of steel billet closed at $360 per metric ton. Following a couple days of improvement, the metal’s price weakened by 1.2 percent on the LME.
Meanwhile, Chinese steel prices were flat for the day.
The high and low prices of iron ore 58% fines from India ranged from $130 to $135 per dry metric ton. Chinese HRC and Chinese coking coal both held steady on June 25.
The 3-month price of the US HRC futures contract saw little price change on Monday at $630 per short ton. The US HRC futures contract spot price saw essentially no change for the fifth day in a row, remaining around $620 per short ton.
