Global Precious Metals MMI®: Chinese Platinum Bar Falls 3.2% For The Week

The week’s biggest mover on the weekly Global Precious Metals MMI® was the price of Chinese platinum bar, which saw a 3.2 percent decline to CNY 313.50 ($49.07) per gram. This comes on the heels of a 3.2 percent increase the week before. The price of Japanese platinum bar fell two percent to JPY 3,627 ($45) per gram after rising 0.5 percent the week before. US platinum bar fell 1.8 percent over the past week to $1,415 per ounce.

Following a 2.8 percent increase in the week prior, the price of Chinese palladium bar fell 2.7 percent last week to CNY 141.50 ($22.15) per gram. The price of US palladium bar fell one percent to $577.00 per ounce after rising one percent the week before. The price of Japanese palladium bar dropped 0.9 percent this week, closing out the third consecutive week of falling prices at JPY 1,476 ($18) per gram.

Following a 1.7 percent increase in the week prior, the price of Chinese gold bullion fell 1.5 percent last week to CNY 326.30 ($51.07) per gram. The price of Japanese gold bullion fell 1.2 percent over the past week to JPY 4,012 ($50) per gram. This was the third week in a row of declining prices. The price of Indian gold bullion declined one percent over the past week, settling at INR 29,216 ($529) per 10 grams. US gold bullion prices ticked up 0.2 percent over the past week to $1,591 per ounce.

The price of Chinese silver fell 2.9 percent to CNY 5,760 ($901) per kilogram after rising 2.8 percent the week before. Following a 0.5 percent increase in the week prior, the price of Indian silver fell 1.6 percent last week to INR 51,572 ($935) per kilogram. The price of Japanese silver fell 0.7 percent over the past week to JPY 689.00 ($8.69) per 10 grams. This was the third week in a row of declining prices. The price of US silver fell 0.6 percent over the past week to $27.28 per ounce. This was the third week in a row of declining prices.
