Global Precious Metals MMI®: US Silver Price Rises 3.6% For The Week

The week’s biggest mover on the weekly Global Precious Metals MMI® was the price of US silver, which saw a 3.6 percent increase to $28.03 per ounce. This comes on the heels of a 0.8 percent decline the week prior.

The price of Japanese silver rose 1.8 percent to JPY 695.00 ($8.89) per 10 grams after falling 0.9 percent during the previous week. In the past week, Chinese silver saw its price shift up 1.6 percent to CNY 5,850 ($916) per kilogram. The price of Indian silver increased by a slight 1.5 percent over the past week to INR 52,509 ($948) per kilogram.

The price of Japanese gold bullion rose 3.2 percent to JPY 4,082 ($52) per gram after falling 1.4 percent during the previous week. The price of US gold bullion rose 2.8 percent to $1,619 per ounce after falling one percent during the previous week. The price of Chinese gold bullion rose 2.3 percent to CNY 332.35 ($52.09) per gram after falling 0.4 percent during the previous week. Following a 1.7 percent increase, Indian gold bullion finished the week at INR 29,798 ($538) per 10 grams.

The price of Japanese platinum bar rose 1.4 percent to JPY 3,548 ($45) per gram after falling 3.6 percent during the previous week. The price of US platinum bar rose 0.9 percent to $1,404 per ounce after falling 1.7 percent during the previous week. The price of Chinese platinum bar rose 0.5 percent to CNY 309.50 ($48.51) per gram after falling 1.8 percent during the previous week.

The price of US palladium bar rose 2.8 percent to $582.00 per ounce after falling 1.9 percent during the previous week. Closing at JPY 1,445 ($18) per gram, Japanese palladium bar remained unchanged for the week. Chinese palladium bar prices held steady from the previous week at CNY 140.00 ($21.94) per gram.
