With a 2.4 percent increase over the past day, the aluminum 3-month price was the biggest mover on the LME, closing at $1,907 per metric ton on Aug. 9, 2012. Also on the LME, the primary aluminum cash price rose 2.4 percent to $1,872 per metric ton.
The cash price of primary Indian aluminum weakened by 0.3 percent.
Chinese aluminum, meanwhile, closed mixed yesterday.
Following a couple of essentially changeless days, the price of Chinese aluminum billet rose by 0.3 percent. The Chinese aluminum cash price remained essentially flat below $2,500 per metric ton.
The price of Chinese aluminum scrap continues hovering around $2,000 per metric ton for the fifth day in a row. The price of Chinese aluminum bar saw essentially no change for the fifth day in a row, remaining above $2,200 per metric ton.
