The day’s biggest mover was US palladium bar, dropping 1.5 percent to settle at $578.00 per ounce on Aug. 10, 2012. The price of Japanese palladium bar changed direction with a 0.3 percent drop. After two days of improving prices, the metal finished at JPY 1,475 ($18) per gram. The price of Chinese palladium bar remained essentially flat at CNY 142.00 ($22.30) per gram.
Following two days of rising prices, the price of Japanese platinum bar dropped 1.1 percent to JPY 3,547 ($45) per gram. At $1,397 per ounce, US platinum bar fell 0.7 percent last Friday. At CNY 309.50 ($48.60) per gram, the price of Chinese platinum bar was essentially unchanged.
US gold bullion finished the day up 0.4 percent to $1,621 per ounce. Japanese gold bullion ended the day at JPY 4,074 ($52) per gram, after the 0.1 percent drop last Friday. Chinese gold bullion saw little change in its price last Friday at CNY 331.10 ($51.99) per gram. The price of Indian gold bullion showed little movement last Friday at INR 29,751 ($536) per 10 grams.
Following a couple days of improvement, the price of Japanese silver weakened by 0.7 percent. Prices closed at JPY 700.00 ($8.95) per 10 grams. Chinese silver prices saw a 0.2 percent decline to CNY 5,900 ($926) per kilogram. The price of US silver increased 0.1 percent to $28.19 per ounce. The price of Indian silver remained steady at INR 52,971 ($954) per kilogram.
