The steel billet 3-month price saw the biggest decline of the day’s steel price index, dropping 3.8 percent on the LME to close at $356 per metric ton on Aug. 13, 2012. The cash price of steel billet saw a 1.4 percent decline on the LME to $355 per metric ton.
Chinese steel prices closed mixed on Monday. The prices of iron ore 58% fines from India remained range-bound in the $130s per dry metric ton, and after three essentially changeless days, the price of Chinese slab dropped 0.3 percent. Chinese HRC stayed flat above $570 per metric ton.
The US HRC futures contract 3-month price held flat at $645 per short ton. The spot price of the US HRC futures contract saw little price change on Monday at $641 per short ton.
