Global Precious Metals MMI®: Japanese Palladium Bar Price Gains Nearly 2%

A 1.9 percent improvement on the weekly Global Precious Metals MMI® made Japanese palladium bar the week’s biggest mover, closing at JPY 1,480 ($18) per gram. Chinese palladium bar saw its price rise 0.7 percent over the past week to CNY 141.00 ($22.14) per gram. Closing out the third week of declining prices, the price of US palladium bar dropped by 0.2 percent, finishing at $575.00 per ounce.

The price of Chinese platinum bar fell 0.8 percent over the past week to CNY 306.50 ($48.13) per gram. This was the fourth week in a row of declining prices. the price of US platinum bar fell 0.7 percent over the past week to $1,389 per ounce. This was the third week in a row of declining prices. After a 0.7 percent decline, Japanese platinum bar closed out the week at JPY 3,523 ($45) per gram.

The price of Chinese gold bullion rose 0.8 percent to CNY 332.40 ($52.19) per gram after falling 0.8 percent during the previous week. The price of Indian gold bullion rose 0.8 percent to INR 29,990 ($540) per 10 grams after falling 0.2 percent during the previous week. The price of Japanese gold bullion rose 0.7 percent to JPY 4,081 ($52) per gram after falling 0.7 percent during the previous week. The price of US gold bullion rose 0.3 percent to $1,616 per ounce after falling 0.5 percent during the previous week.

In the past week, Japanese silver saw its price shift up 1.4 percent to JPY 705.00 ($9.01) per 10 grams. The price of Indian silver increased one percent this week, closing out the fourth consecutive week of rising prices at INR 53,220 ($959) per kilogram. The price of Chinese silver rose 0.9 percent over the past week to CNY 5,910 ($927) per kilogram. This was the fourth week in a row of increasing prices. The price of US silver declined 0.1 percent over the past week, settling at $27.91 per ounce.
