Chinese Bright Copper Scrap Price Up After Three-Day Flat Spell

The price of Chinese bright copper scrap increased by one percent on Aug. 16, 2012, making it the day’s biggest mover on our copper price index.

Chinese copper bar prices rose 0.3 percent. The Chinese copper cash price finished the day with a 0.3 percent increase. The price of Chinese copper wire increased 0.1 percent.

The prices of US copper producer grades 102, 110 and 122 remained essentially flat today. The Japanese copper cash price was unchanged as well.

Following a quiet couple of days, the primary copper cash price fell 0.5 percent yesterday on the LME to $7,385 per metric ton. Also on the LME, the copper 3-month price declined 0.2 percent to $7,390 per metric ton.
