3-Month Price Of Copper Sees Small Jump

The 3-month price of copper saw the biggest upwards shift for the day, rising 0.9 percent on the LME on August 23, 2012. The cash price of primary copper finished the market day on the LME up 0.6 percent per metric ton.

The price of US copper producer grade 122 saw little change in its price on Thursday at $4 per pound. The Japanese copper cash price was unchanged at slightly below $8,150 per metric ton. The price of US copper producer grade 102 showed little movement on Thursday at $4.28 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 110 held steady around $4.09 per pound.

Chinese copper closed mixed yesterday. Chinese copper bar saw its price rise 0.8 percent per metric ton. After a 0.8 percent increase, the Chinese copper cash price finished the day above $9,0oo per metric ton. For the eighth day in a row, the price of Chinese copper wire rose and is currently above $8,800 per metric ton. Chinese bright copper scrap held its value on Thursday above $7,350 per metric ton.
