Chinese HRC Shifts Up Nearly 2% on Daily Steel Price Index

On Sept. 10, 2012, Chinese HRC rose 1.8 percent to finish as the day’s biggest mover on MetalMiner’s steel price index.

The price of Chinese coking coal saw little movement, while the price of Chinese slab held steady below $550 per metric ton. The prices of iron ore 58% fines from India remained unchanged from yesterday.

On the LME, the steel billet cash price rose 1.6 percent to $320.00 per metric ton. Also on the LME, the steel billet 3-month price rose 1.6 percent to $325.00 per metric ton.

The 3-month price of the US HRC futures contract has been on the decline for eight days and is now at $600.00 per short ton. The spot price of the US HRC futures contract has been on the rise for 13 days and is now at $649.00 per short ton.
