Cash Prices of Aluminum Lower on LME, in China

On Sept. 18, 2012, the day’s biggest mover was the aluminum cash price, which saw a 0.7 percent decline on the LME to $2,162 per metric ton. Following two days of rising prices, the 3-month price of aluminum dropped 0.4 percent on the LME to $2,167 per metric ton.

The Indian aluminum cash price held steady on Tuesday, remaining above $2 per kilogram.

Chinese aluminum prices were mixed for the day. Following a couple days of improvement, the Chinese aluminum cash price weakened by 0.3 percent. Chinese aluminum scrap saw little change in its price yesterday, keeping above $2,000 per metric ton.

The price of Chinese aluminum billet showed little movement yesterday, and the price of Chinese aluminum bar was unchanged.
