LME Nickel Price Improves, Chinese Stainless Doesn't Move

The nickel 3-month price saw the biggest increase on MetalMiner’s stainless price index at 2.6 percent on the LME, finishing at $18,075 per metric ton for Sept. 24, 2012.

Following a 2.3 percent rise on Monday, the spot price of nickel closed on the LME at $18,000 per metric ton. Meanwhile, the cash price of primary Indian nickel fell 2.2 percent.

Chinese stainless steel and raw materials prices closed flat for the day. Chinese 304 and 316 stainless coil, and 304 and 316 stainless steel scrap all held steady for the day.

For the fifth day in a row, the price of Chinese ferro-chrome remained essentially flat and Chinese ferro-moly kept even. The price of Chinese primary nickel saw little movement on Monday as well.
