Base Metal Price Update: LME Aluminum Price, Copper Markets Rise

Daily Aluminum Price Movements

At $1,976 per metric ton, the LME cash price of primary aluminum moved up 2.5 percent on Nov. 27, 2012, making it the day’s biggest mover on MetalMiner’s aluminum price index. After a 2.2 percent increase, the aluminum 3-month price finished the day on the LME at $1,992 per metric ton.

The cash price of primary Indian aluminum gained 2.2 percent.

Chinese aluminum scrap, billet, bar and cash prices were flat for the day.

Daily Copper Price Movements

The copper 3-month price saw a 1.3 percent increase on Nov. 27, 2012, reaching $7,789 per metric ton on the LME and making it the biggest mover for the day. After falling for two days, the cash price of primary copper rose 1.2 percent on the LME to $7,770 per metric ton.

The price of US copper producer grades 110 and 122 rose 1 percent. The price of US copper producer grade 102 inched up 0.9 percent. For the fifth day in a row, the Japanese copper cash price remained essentially flat.

The price of Chinese copper wire increased 0.3 percent. Chinese copper bar prices inched up 0.2 percent. The cash price of Chinese copper increased 0.2 percent as well. The price of Chinese bright copper scrap showed little movement on Tuesday.
