Chinese Rebar Plummets on Construction Metals Price Index

A 7.9 percent decline in Chinese rebar made it the biggest mover on the weekly Construction MMI®.

The weekly US Gulf Coast bar fuel surcharge spiked 4.2 percent last week. The weekly US Midwest bar fuel surcharge rose 1.4 percent after falling 0.4 percent during the previous week. The weekly US Rocky Mountain bar fuel surcharge traded sideways last week.

The Chinese low price of 62% Australian iron ore fines remained unchanged for the week. Following a steady week, prices for US shredded scrap closed flat. Chinese H-beam steel also remained unchanged for the week.

The week finished with no movement for Chinese aluminum bar. Prices for European 1050 aluminum remained constant as well.
