Copper MMI®: 3.3% Decrease for Chinese Bright Copper Scrap

The week’s biggest mover on the weekly Copper MMI® was Chinese bright copper scrap, which saw a 3.3 percent decline. The price of Chinese copper bar rose 1.4 percent after falling 0.2 percent during the previous week. The cash price of Chinese copper rose 1.4 percent after falling 0.2 percent during the previous week. The price of US copper producer grade 122 rose 1.7 percent over the past week. A 1.7 percent gain landed the price of US copper producer grade 110. Last week, the price of US copper producer grade 102 shifted slightly, rising by 1.6 percent. Korean copper strip prices held steady from the previous week and the cash price of primary Japanese copper stayed essentially flat.

The cash price of primary copper shifted up 1.9 percent on the LME this week. Also on the LME, the copper 3-month price ticked up 1.5 percent over the past week.
