Decreasing 1.2 percent made Chinese copper wire the biggest mover of the day, finishing at CNY 56,530 ($9,068) per metric ton on Dec. 20, 2012. The price of Chinese copper bar fell 1.2 percent to CNY 57,380 ($9,204) per metric ton. The Chinese copper cash price fell 1.2 percent to CNY 57,580 ($9,236) per metric ton. The price of Chinese bright copper scrap saw little movement at CNY 48,400 ($7,764) per metric ton.
The price of US copper producer grade 122 declined 0.9 percent to $4.23 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 110 saw a 0.9 percent decline to $4.23 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 102 weakened by 0.9 percent, settling at $4.42 per pound. The Japanese copper cash price saw essentially no change for the fifth day in a row, remaining around JPY 640,000 ($7,598) per metric ton.
The copper 3-month price saw a 0.7 percent decline on the LME to $7,946 per metric ton. Also on the LME, the cash price of primary copper fell 0.7 percent to $7,985 per metric ton.
