At $7,929 per metric ton, the LME cash price of primary copper moved up 0.7 percent on Jan. 2, 2013, making it the day’s biggest mover on MetalMiner’s copper price index. The 3-month price of copper rose by 0.6 percent on the LME to $7,914 per metric ton.
The prices of US copper producer grades 102, 110 and 122 showed little movement yesterday.
The Japanese copper cash price continues hovering in place for the fifth day in a row.
Chinese copper bar, wire, cash and scrap prices closed flat for the day.
Current Aluminum Prices
The cash price of primary Indian aluminum saw the biggest upwards shift for the day on our aluminum price index, rising 0.5 percent on Jan. 2, 2013.
At $2,040, the cash price of primary aluminum finished the market day on the LME up 0.5 percent per metric ton. Also on the LME, the aluminum 3-month price increased 0.3 percent to $2,071 per metric ton.
For the fifth consecutive day, the price of Chinese aluminum scrap held flat. The price of Chinese aluminum billet remained steady. The price of Chinese aluminum bar saw little movement. The Chinese aluminum cash price saw little movement yesterday as well.
