At $7,929 per metric ton, the cash price of primary copper moved up 0.7 percent on Jan. 2, 2013, making it the day’s biggest mover on the LME. The 3-month price of copper rose by 0.6 percent on the LME to $7,914 per metric ton.
The price of US copper producer grade 122 showed little movement yesterday, hovering around $4.21 per pound. The Japanese copper cash price continues hovering around JPY 640,000 ($7,389) per metric ton for the fifth day in a row. The price of US copper producer grade 102 saw little movement yesterday, closing out around $4.40 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 110 saw little movement yesterday at $4.21 per pound.
Chinese copper prices closed flat for the day. The price of Chinese copper bar remained steady at CNY 58,050 ($9,305) per metric ton. The Chinese copper cash price saw little change in its price on Wednesday at CNY 58,250 ($9,337) per metric ton. The price of Chinese copper wire showed little movement yesterday at CNY 56,950 ($9,129) per metric ton. For the fifth day in a row, the price of Chinese bright copper scrap remained essentially flat at CNY 47,900 ($7,678) per metric ton.
