Following two days of increases, the Indian aluminum cash price dropped by 1.7 percent to end at INR 112.75 ($2.07) per kilogram on Jan. 4, 2013. On the LME, the aluminum 3-month price rose 0.8 percent to $2,145 per metric ton. On the LME, the cash price of primary aluminum inched up 0.7 percent to $2,108 per metric ton.
Chinese aluminum prices closed flat for the day. The price of Chinese aluminum scrap remained essentially flat at CNY 12,800 ($2,053) per metric ton. Chinese aluminum billet stayed flat at around CNY 15,100 ($2,422) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum bar saw little movement at CNY 14,050 ($2,254) per metric ton. The Chinese aluminum cash price saw essentially no change for the fifth day in a row, remaining around CNY 15,060 ($2,416) per metric ton.
