Following a three-day flat streak, the price of Chinese copper wire climbed by 1.0 percent to end at CNY 57,495 ($9,224) per metric ton on Jan. 4, 2013. The price of Chinese copper bar finished the day at CNY 58,450 ($9,377) per metric ton following a 0.7 percent increase. After a 0.7 percent increase, the Chinese copper cash price finished the day at CNY 58,650 ($9,409) per metric ton. The price of Chinese bright copper scrap rose by 0.4 percent to CNY 48,100 ($7,716) per metric ton.
The price of US copper producer grade 122 held steady last Friday, remaining around $4.21 per pound. For the fifth consecutive day, the Japanese copper cash price held flat at JPY 640,000 ($7,294) per metric ton. The price of US copper producer grade 102 saw little price change last Friday at $4.40 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 110 showed little movement last Friday, hovering around $4.21 per pound.
On the LME, the 3-month price of copper increased 0.7 percent to $8,140 per metric ton. After a 0.7 percent increase, the cash price of primary copper finished the day on the LME at $8,166 per metric ton.
