After Two-Day Rise, 3-Month Price of Aluminum Falls

The 3-month price of aluminum fell 2.7 percent on Jan. 7, 2013 to $2,088 per metric ton on the LME, making it the day’s biggest mover. The cash price of primary aluminum closed at $2,055 per metric ton. Following a couple days of improvement, prices fell by 2.5 percent on the LME. The cash price of primary Indian aluminum declined 2.3 percent to INR 110.20 ($2.00) per kilogram.

Chinese aluminum prices were flat for the day. The Chinese aluminum cash price was unchanged at CNY 15,070 ($2,418) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum scrap held steady at CNY 12,800 ($2,054) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum billet saw essentially no change for the fifth day in a row, remaining around CNY 15,100 ($2,423) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum bar continues hovering around CNY 14,050 ($2,255) per metric ton for the fifth day in a row.
