Japanese Platinum Bar Up 2.8%

Japanese platinum bar saw the biggest upwards shift for the day, rising 2.8 percent to close at JPY 4,401 ($49.89) per gram on Jan. 7, 2013. Chinese platinum bar saw its price rise 0.8 percent to CNY 334.00 ($53.60) per gram. For the fifth day in a row, the price of US platinum bar remained essentially flat at $1,549 per ounce.

US palladium bar finished the day down 1.3 percent to $683.00 per ounce. Japanese palladium bar ended the day at JPY 1,951 ($22.12) per gram, after the 0.6 percent drop yesterday. The price of Chinese palladium bar held steady at CNY 167.50 ($26.88) per gram.

Japanese gold bullion prices rose 1.3 percent to JPY 4,683 ($53.08) per gram. After a 1.0 percent increase, Indian gold bullion finished the day at INR 30,660 ($556.70) per 10 grams. At CNY 333.90 ($53.58), the price of Chinese gold bullion finished the market day up 0.7 percent per gram. US gold bullion prices saw a 0.4 percent decline to $1,657 per ounce.

Indian silver finished the day up 2.7 percent to INR 57,380 ($1,042) per kilogram. Chinese silver gained 2.7 percent to finish at CNY 6,110 ($980.49) per kilogram. The price of Japanese silver increased 1.8 percent to JPY 855.00 ($9.69) per 10 grams. US silver prices inched up 0.3 percent to $30.18 per ounce.
