Cash Price of Aluminum Lower

The aluminum cash price saw the biggest decline of the day, dropping 2.5 percent on the LME to close at $2,004 per metric ton on Jan. 8, 2013. The aluminum 3-month price saw a 2.3 percent decline on the LME to $2,040 per metric ton. The Indian aluminum cash price is back up, rising by 1.8 percent on Tuesday to close at INR 112.15 ($2.03) per kilogram.

Chinese aluminum prices were mixed for the day. After remaining flat for three days, the price of Chinese aluminum billet fell 0.3 percent on Tuesday to CNY 15,050 ($2,415) per metric ton. The Chinese aluminum cash price moved yesterday. After a few changeless days, prices dropped 0.2 percent to CNY 15,040 ($2,414) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum scrap continues hovering around CNY 12,800 ($2,054) per metric ton for the fifth day in a row. For the fifth consecutive day, the price of Chinese aluminum bar held flat at CNY 14,050 ($2,255) per metric ton.
