Cash Price of Aluminum Up Again

The aluminum cash price rose 1.1 percent on Jan. 9, 2013, making it the day’s biggest mover. After two days of falling prices on the LME, it closed at $2,026 per metric ton. After falling for two days, the aluminum 3-month price rose 1.0 percent on the LME to $2,061 per metric ton. At INR 113.30 ($2.06), the cash price of primary Indian aluminum finished the market day up 1.0 percent per kilogram.

Chinese aluminum prices closed flat for the day. The Chinese aluminum cash price held steady around CNY 15,050 ($2,417) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum scrap remained essentially flat at CNY 12,800 ($2,056) per metric ton. Chinese aluminum billet held its value on Wednesday at CNY 15,050 ($2,417) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum bar saw little movement at CNY 14,050 ($2,256) per metric ton.
