Cash Price of Aluminum Improves Slightly

On Jan. 10, 2013, the day’s biggest mover was the cash price of primary aluminum, which saw a 1.7 percent increase on the LME to $2,061 per metric ton. After a 1.6 percent increase, the 3-month price of aluminum finished the day on the LME at $2,094 per metric ton. Following a two-day rise, the cash price of primary Indian aluminum flattened at INR 113.30 ($2.07).

Chinese aluminum prices were flat for the day. The Chinese aluminum cash price saw little movement on Thursday, closing out around CNY 15,040 ($2,416) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum scrap held steady at CNY 12,800 ($2,056) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum billet held steady at CNY 15,050 ($2,417) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum bar was unchanged at CNY 14,050 ($2,257) per metric ton.
