Japanese Platinum Bar Rises 3%

With a 3 percent increase on Jan. 11, 2013, Japanese platinum bar was the biggest mover on the Global Precious Metals MMI®. After a 0.9 percent increase, Chinese platinum bar finished the day at CNY 343.00 ($55.10) per gram. The price of US platinum bar continues hovering around $1,549 per ounce for the fifth day in a row.

At JPY 1,999 ($22.40), the price of Japanese palladium bar finished the market day up 2.0 percent per gram. US palladium bar gained 1.7 percent to finish at $698.00 per ounce. Chinese palladium bar finished the day up 1.2 percent to CNY 168.50 ($27.07) per gram.

The price of Japanese gold bullion increased 1.7 percent to JPY 4,782 ($53.59) per gram. US gold bullion saw its price rise 1.0 percent to $1,675 per ounce. Chinese gold bullion prices rose 0.9 percent to CNY 335.90 ($53.95) per gram. Indian gold bullion prices inched up 0.5 percent to INR 30,560 ($560.04) per 10 grams.

Japanese silver prices rose 2.7 percent to JPY 880.00 ($9.86) per 10 grams. At INR 57,443 ($1,053), the price of Indian silver finished the market day up 2.0 percent per kilogram. US silver prices inched up 1.6 percent to $30.86 per ounce. Chinese silver saw its price rise 1.4 percent to CNY 6,220 ($999.10) per kilogram.
