Cash Price of Primary Indian Nickel Sees Small Decrease

On Jan. 15, 2013, the day’s biggest mover was the cash price of primary Indian nickel, which saw a 1.2 percent decline to INR 937.30 ($17.20) per kilogram. At $17,450, the nickel 3-month price finished the market day on the LME up 0.3 percent per metric ton. After a 0.2 percent increase, the nickel spot price finished the day on the LME at $17,355 per metric ton.

Chinese stainless steel closed mixed yesterday. The price of Chinese ferro-chrome saw little movement at CNY 8,300 ($1,334) per metric ton. The price of Chinese ferro-moly was unchanged at CNY 145,000 ($23,300) per metric ton.

The price of Chinese 316 stainless coil fell 0.7 percent to CNY 26,600 ($4,274) per metric ton. The price of Chinese primary nickel saw a 0.2 percent decline to CNY 123,400 ($19,829) per metric ton. For the fifth day in a row, the price of Chinese 304 stainless coil remained essentially flat at CNY 18,000 ($2,892) per metric ton. The price of Chinese 316 stainless steel scrap saw essentially no change for the fifth day in a row, remaining around CNY 16,600 ($2,667) per metric ton. The price of Chinese 304 stainless steel scrap continues hovering around CNY 18,000 ($2,892) per metric ton for the fifth day in a row.
