Cash Price of Primary Indian Nickel Sees Small Decrease

On Jan. 15, 2013, the day’s biggest mover on our stainless price index was the cash price of primary Indian nickel, which saw a 1.2 percent decline.

At $17,450, the nickel 3-month price finished the market day on the LME up 0.3 percent per metric ton. After a 0.2 percent increase, the nickel spot price finished the day on the LME at $17,355 per metric ton.

The price of Chinese primary nickel saw a 0.2 percent decline.

Chinese Stainless Steel Market

Chinese stainless steel closed mixed yesterday.

The price of Chinese 316 stainless coil fell 0.7 percent. Prices of Chinese 304 stainless coil, 304 scrap, and 316 scrap all remained essentially flat.
