1.5% Shift for Chinese Silver

With a 1.5 percent increase on Jan. 16, 2013, Chinese silver was the biggest mover on the Global Precious Metals MMI®. After a 0.9 percent increase, US silver finished the day at $31.37 per ounce. Indian silver gained 0.6 percent to finish at INR 57,532 ($1,053) per kilogram. The price of Japanese silver remained essentially flat at JPY 887.00 ($9.99) per 10 grams.

US gold bullion prices inched up 0.7 percent to $1,680 per ounce. Chinese gold bullion prices rose 0.5 percent to CNY 337.75 ($54.35) per gram. Indian gold bullion finished the day up 0.2 percent to INR 30,503 ($558.41) per 10 grams. Japanese gold bullion saw little change in its price yesterday at JPY 4,788 ($53.94) per gram.

For the 7th day in a row, the price of Chinese platinum bar rose and is currently at CNY 355.00 ($57.13) per gram. For the fifth day in a row, the price of US platinum bar remained essentially flat at $1,549 per ounce. Japanese platinum bar held its value on Wednesday at JPY 4,781 ($53.87) per gram.

US palladium bar saw its price rise 0.7 percent to $709.00 per ounce. The price of Chinese palladium bar has been on the rise for 7 days and is now at CNY 172.00 ($27.68) per gram. The price of Japanese palladium bar remained steady at JPY 2,031 ($22.88) per gram.
