Current Copper Prices
The price of US copper producer grade 110 saw a 1.2 percent increase on Jan. 18, 2013, making it the biggest mover for the day on MetalMiner’s copper price index.
The price of US copper producer grade 122 also rose 1.2 percent, while the price of US copper producer grade 102 finished the market day up 1.1 percent per pound.
For the fifth consecutive day, the Japanese copper cash price held flat.
Chinese copper closed mixed last Friday. After a 0.7 percent increase, Chinese copper wire finished the day up a bit. The price of Chinese copper bar rose 0.6 percent after a two-day drop.
Also after falling for two days, the Chinese copper cash price rose 0.6 percent. The price of Chinese bright copper scrap saw essentially no change for the fifth day in a row.
Following a 0.3 percent rise last Friday, the primary copper cash price closed on the LME at $7,960 per metric ton. The copper 3-month price is back up, rising by 0.2 percent on the LME last Friday to close at $7,925 per metric ton.
Current Aluminum Prices
The LME aluminum cash price rose 0.6 percent on Jan. 18, 2013, making it the day’s biggest mover on our aluminum price index. After two days of falling prices on the LME, it closed at $2,003 per metric ton.
Following a two-day drop, the aluminum 3-month price increased by 0.4 percent on the LME to $2,040 per metric ton.
Chinese aluminum prices were mixed for the day.
The cash price of Chinese aluminum gained 0.2 percent. The price of Chinese aluminum scrap continues to hover in place for the fifth day in a row.
After dropping for two days, the price of Chinese aluminum billet flattened as well. The price of Chinese aluminum bar saw little movement.
