Current Aluminum Prices
On Jan. 22, 2013, the day’s biggest mover on MetalMiner’s aluminum price index was the LME cash price of primary aluminum, which saw a 1 percent decline to $2,000 per metric ton. After improving for two days, the aluminum 3-month price declined 0.8 percent on the LME to $2,040 per metric ton.
The Indian aluminum cash price weakened by 0.6 percent.
Chinese aluminum prices closed flat for the day.
Current Copper Prices
After a 0.5 percent increase, the cash price of Chinese copper also finished the day up. Chinese copper wire finished the day up 0.3 percent. The price of Chinese bright copper scrap was unchanged.
The prices of US copper producer grades 102, 110 and 122 ended a two-day climb, holding steady.
For the fifth day in a row, the cash price of primary Japanese copper remained essentially flat.
The cash price of primary copper declined 0.4 percent on the LME to $8,051 per metric ton, after two days of improvement. Weakening prices followed two days of improvement as the 3-month price of copper dropped 0.4 percent on the LME to $8,020 per metric ton.
