Cash Price of Aluminum Improves Slightly

On Jan. 24, 2013, the cash price of primary aluminum experienced the biggest change, rising 1.9 percent on the LME to $2,047 per metric ton. On the LME, the 3-month price of aluminum gained 1.9 percent to finish at $2,085 per metric ton. The cash price of primary Indian aluminum saw a 0.9 percent decline to INR 109.15 ($2.03) per kilogram.

Chinese aluminum closed mixed on Thursday. Following a quiet couple of days, the price of Chinese aluminum billet fell 0.3 percent on Thursday to CNY 14,850 ($2,386) per metric ton. The cash price of Chinese aluminum fell 0.3 percent yesterday to CNY 14,920 ($2,398) per metric ton after three straight days with no change. Chinese aluminum scrap saw little change in its price on Thursday at CNY 12,730 ($2,046) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum bar continues hovering around CNY 14,050 ($2,258) per metric ton for the fifth day in a row.
