Current Aluminum Prices
On Jan. 24, 2013, the cash price of primary aluminum experienced the biggest change, rising 1.9 percent on the LME to $2,047 per metric ton. On the LME, the 3-month price of aluminum gained 1.9 percent to finish at $2,085 per metric ton.
Chinese aluminum closed mixed on Thursday. Following a quiet couple of days, the price of Chinese aluminum billet fell 0.3 percent. The cash price of Chinese aluminum fell 0.3 percent yesterday after three straight days with no change.
Chinese aluminum scrap saw little change in its price on Thursday. The price of Chinese aluminum bar continues hovering in place for the fifth day in a row.
Current Copper Prices
The 3-month price of copper saw the biggest upwards shift for the day, rising 0.6 percent on the LME to close at $8,115 per metric ton on Jan. 24, 2013. At $8,148, the primary copper cash price finished the market day on the LME up 0.6 percent per metric ton.
The price of US copper producer grade 122 saw a 0.5 percent decline. The price of US copper producer grade 110 weakened by 0.5 percent also, while the price of US copper producer grade 102 declined 0.4 percent. The Japanese copper cash price remained essentially flat.
Chinese copper closed mixed yesterday. Following two days of rising prices, the price of Chinese copper wire dropped 0.1 percent. Chinese copper bar prices saw a 0.1 percent decline. The cash price of Chinese copper fell 0.1 percent. For the fifth day in a row, the price of Chinese bright copper scrap remained essentially flat.
