3-Month Price of Aluminum Drops 1.0% After Short Rise

On Jan. 25, 2013, the day’s biggest mover was the aluminum 3-month price, which saw a 1.0 percent decline on the LME to $2,064 per metric ton. After improving for two days, the cash price of primary aluminum declined 1.0 percent on the LME to $2,026 per metric ton. The Indian aluminum cash price rose 0.8 percent to INR 110.00 ($2.05) per kilogram.

Chinese aluminum prices closed flat for the day. Chinese aluminum scrap stayed flat at around CNY 12,730 ($2,047) per metric ton. Chinese aluminum billet held its value last Friday at CNY 14,850 ($2,387) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum bar held steady at CNY 14,050 ($2,259) per metric ton. The Chinese aluminum cash price saw little movement last Friday at CNY 14,920 ($2,399) per metric ton.
