Japanese Silver Moves Up 1.8%

On Jan. 30, 2013, the day’s biggest mover was Japanese silver, which saw a 1.8 percent increase to JPY 908.00 ($10.00) per 10 grams. Following a two-day drop, the price of US silver increased by 1.8 percent to $31.38 per ounce. The price of Chinese silver rose 0.8 percent to CNY 6,340 ($1,018) per kilogram after a two-day drop. Following a 0.4 percent rise yesterday, the price of Indian silver closed at INR 57,489 ($1,069) per kilogram.

The price of US gold bullion is back up, rising by 0.6 percent on Wednesday to close at $1,664 per ounce. The price of Indian gold bullion fell 0.4 percent to INR 30,202 ($561.74) per 10 grams. Japanese gold bullion finished the day up 0.4 percent to JPY 4,875 ($53.69) per gram. Chinese gold bullion gained 0.3 percent to finish at CNY 335.20 ($53.83) per gram.

At JPY 4,928 ($54.27), the price of Japanese platinum bar finished the market day up 0.9 percent per gram. The price of Chinese platinum bar increased 0.8 percent to CNY 357.00 ($57.33) per gram. For the fifth day in a row, the price of US platinum bar remained essentially flat at $1,549 per ounce.

US palladium bar prices inched up 1.6 percent to $748.00 per ounce. After a 1.1 percent increase, Chinese palladium bar finished the day at CNY 182.00 ($29.23) per gram. Japanese palladium bar prices rose 0.6 percent to JPY 2,186 ($24.07) per gram.
