Cash Price of Aluminum Rises 1.3%

 On Feb. 1, 2013, the cash price of primary aluminum experienced the biggest change, rising 1.3 percent on the LME to $2,073 per metric ton. On the LME, the 3-month price of aluminum gained 1.2 percent to finish at $2,110 per metric ton. The Indian aluminum cash price closed at INR 109.60 ($2.06) per kilogram. Following a couple days of improvement, prices fell by 0.8 percent.

Chinese aluminum closed mixed last Friday. After remaining flat for three days, the price of Chinese aluminum scrap fell 0.6 percent last Friday to CNY 12,650 ($2,034) per metric ton. Following two days of rising prices, the Chinese aluminum cash price dropped 0.3 percent to CNY 14,920 ($2,399) per metric ton. Chinese aluminum billet stayed flat at around CNY 14,850 ($2,388) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum bar remained essentially flat at CNY 14,050 ($2,259) per metric ton.
