3-Month Price of Aluminum Switches Direction

On Feb. 4, 2013, the day’s biggest mover was the 3-month price of aluminum, which saw a 0.9 percent decline on the LME to $2,092 per metric ton. After improving for two days, the primary aluminum cash price declined 0.8 percent on the LME to $2,056 per metric ton. The cash price of primary Indian aluminum rose 0.5 percent to INR 110.10 ($2.07) per kilogram.

Chinese aluminum prices were mixed for the day. The cash price of Chinese aluminum inched up 0.1 percent to CNY 14,940 ($2,402) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum scrap remained essentially flat at CNY 12,650 ($2,034) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum billet remained steady at CNY 14,850 ($2,388) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum bar remained essentially flat at CNY 14,050 ($2,259) per metric ton.
