Global Precious Metals MMI®: US Platinum Bar Week Closes With 8.1% Rise

US platinum bar saw the largest upwards shift on the weekly Global Precious Metals MMI®, rising 8.1 percent to settle at $1,674 per ounce. The price of Japanese platinum bar increased 2.7 percent this week, closing out the fourth consecutive week of rising prices at JPY 5,075 ($55.33) per gram. Finishing the fourth week of rising prices, the price of Chinese platinum bar increased by 0.4 percent, finishing at CNY 360.50 ($57.97) per gram.

The price of Japanese palladium bar rose 4.2 percent over the past week to JPY 2,249 ($24.52) per gram. This was the fourth week in a row of increasing prices. The price of Chinese palladium bar increased 1.7 percent this week, closing out the fourth consecutive week of rising prices at CNY 183.00 ($29.43) per gram. The price of US palladium bar rose 0.1 percent this week, closing out the third week at $741.00 per ounce.

The price of Japanese gold bullion rose 2.7 percent to JPY 4,987 ($54.37) per gram after falling 0.9 percent during the previous week. Indian gold bullion prices were off slightly at INR 30,138 ($566.29) per 10 grams, down from INR 30,452 ($565.99) a week ago. The price of Chinese gold bullion rose 0.7 percent to CNY 336.67 ($54.14) per gram after falling 1.4 percent during the previous week. The price of US gold bullion rose 0.3 percent to $1,664 per ounce after falling 1.5 percent during the previous week.

The price of Japanese silver rose 2.1 percent over the past week to JPY 928.00 ($10.12) per 10 grams. This was the fourth week in a row of increasing prices. The price of Chinese silver rose 1.3 percent to CNY 6,390 ($1,028) per kilogram after falling 2.5 percent during the previous week. The price of US silver rose 0.9 percent to $31.47 per ounce after falling 2.2 percent during the previous week. The price of Indian silver declined 0.4 percent over the past week, settling at INR 57,589 ($1,082) per kilogram.
