Cash Price of Primary Copper Rises 0.9%

The copper cash price saw the biggest increase at 0.9 percent on the LME, finishing at $8,264 per metric ton for Feb. 5, 2013. Also on the LME, the copper 3-month price rose 0.8 percent to $8,226 per metric ton.

The price of US copper producer grade 122 fell 0.5 percent to $4.39 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 110 declined 0.5 percent to $4.39 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 102 saw a 0.4 percent decline to $4.58 per pound. The Japanese copper cash price saw little movement at JPY 640,000 ($6,943) per metric ton.

Chinese copper closed mixed on Tuesday. Chinese copper wire closed 0.3 percent lower at CNY 58,950 ($9,460) per metric ton. Chinese copper bar prices saw a 0.3 percent decline to CNY 59,750 ($9,589) per metric ton. The cash price of Chinese copper weakened by 0.3 percent, settling at CNY 59,950 ($9,621) per metric ton. The price of Chinese bright copper scrap remained steady at CNY 48,760 ($7,825) per metric ton.
