Cash Price of Primary Copper Shifts Up 0.3%

The cash price of primary copper saw the biggest increase at 0.3 percent on the LME, finishing at $8,252 per metric ton for Feb. 8, 2013. After a 0.2 percent increase, the copper 3-month price finished the day on the LME at $8,212 per metric ton.

The price of US copper producer grade 122 showed little movement last Friday, hovering around $4.37 per pound. The cash price of primary Japanese copper saw little movement at JPY 640,000 ($6,834) per metric ton. The price of US copper producer grade 102 saw little price change last Friday at $4.56 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 110 saw little movement last Friday at $4.37 per pound.

Chinese copper prices closed flat for the day. Chinese copper bar stayed flat at around CNY 59,600 ($9,561) per metric ton. The cash price of Chinese copper held steady last Friday, remaining around CNY 59,800 ($9,593) per metric ton. Chinese copper wire held its value last Friday at CNY 58,950 ($9,456) per metric ton. The price of Chinese bright copper scrap continues hovering around CNY 48,760 ($7,822) per metric ton for the fifth day in a row.
